8 years ago, the brave firefighter Damir and the successful lawyer Valeria had a son, Ruslan. Looking at this smiling boy, it is difficult to suspect difficulties. He went to kindergarten, goes to school, easily finds a common language with grandmothers, helps dad in the country, willingly walks with his mother to museums and libraries. For several years in a row, the boy eagerly swallowed books about dinosaurs, now the time has come for Harry Potter and even Ancient Greek myths and legends. Ruslan and his mother have already got through everything they were asked for the summer. The reader's diary is full and waiting in the wings. Such successes would not have been possible without the titanic efforts of the parents.
The peculiarities of Ruslan's development were revealed closer to two years. The boy went to kindergarten and suddenly became selective in food. He showed no interest in his peers. Echolalia appeared - the child began to automatically repeat the words he heard. The Institute of Correctional Pedagogy was in no hurry to make a diagnosis - the development was normal, "Ruslan knew everything." Certain features, of course, were already noticeable, but there was no talk of autism. Delayed speech development and features of the emotional-volitional sphere. Six months later, the doctors already revealed a delay in psycho-speech development ... They began regular classes with psychologists, defectologists and special teachers. Rehabilitation courses replaced each other: massage, exercise therapy, speech therapists. Individual lessons were given to the child relatively easily, but in the group it was not enough. Unstable behavior required special delicacy and patience. Micropolarization, bioacoustic correction, classes with a neuropsychologist - all this gradually yielded results.
Two years before school, Ruslan went to a correctional kindergarten - he learned to read, mastered oral counting. 3 courses of Tomatis, ABA therapy, kinesiotherapy, dolphin therapy, vitamins, diet - Ruslal's parents tried not to miss anything. But it was worth it. Positive dynamics, as a doctor would say. And behind these words lies the daily work, the daily routine, countless trips to doctors, very serious expenses, small successes and regrettable blunders. And also the parents of special children, and the children themselves, often have to deal with a disdainful attitude. Many people simply do not understand that ALL children deserve respect and love. And some need much more help and attention. The causes of autism are unknown, it is not a punishment or a consequence of bad habits. There is no insurance against autism. You need to understand this and accept. Autism is a disorder of social interaction: a child simply does not know how to communicate with the world the way ordinary children do. But he can be taught. Delicate to teach, not stigmatize. Teach inclusively - with ordinary children. After all, after school, a child with autism will have to live with the same society.
Most recently, Ruslan's brother was born. The parents have more worries, and although the eldest son has become noticeably more independent, he still needs further rehabilitation. They won't be able to defeat autism overnight, but right now you can help a little lover of dinosaurs and Harry Potter. He may be a little unusual, but he also loves mom and dad. And his little brother. “Social maladjustment” does not prevent Ruslan from swimming in the river, smiling and feasting on his favorite berries from the bush.
